Congratulations to our Safety Award winners for the month of June!

Angelo Carvalho is our First Place Winner for the June Safety Award!
We would like to recognize and congratulate him for his work with Fairhaven PD and Landers to devise a traffic management plan to safely manage the flow of traffic while crews were working on Green Street in Fairhaven. He took steps to determine how to manage traffic in the safest and most effective manner and came to the decision to block the work zone off block to block as crews moved along the busy road. Thanks for keeping our crews and roads safe!

Congratulations to Safety Award Winner Ryan Worsman for identifying and mitigating rain runoff into the Lunenburg QC Lab!
Spring/Summer 2016: Began seeing some water in the back office of the QC lab during heavy thunderstorms.
Spring 2017: Flooding in lab becoming more significant and more frequent. During one rain event there was a 2” deep lake covering 50% of the lab.
Ryan identified the source to be the coming from the area of the abandoned scale outside the EHS building and worked with Alex and Moe to construct a temporary berm using sand bags. A series of significant rain events followed and it was determined that the solution worked as the flooding was completely eliminated.

Congratulations to Safety Award Winner Gary Savoie!
The original base support design for the dust blower was not meeting the safety and performance expectations for Gary Savoie and the Lunenburg Asphalt team. Gary determined that simply welding this dust blower to the baghouse base would not be good for long term performance especially with noise. He spoke with Eric Morin and started redesigning this area that included a new metal base with attachments. The unit will rest free floating on rubber matting held in place with metal guides. To date, the redesign for this unit is performing very well with a noticeable noise reduction.
